Bienvenido al Hotel Vista Al Lago
Just after Rio Dulce, going west, is the village of El Estor on the Izabal Lake. Facing the peaceful lake is Hotel Vista Al Lago, the oldest house in the village.
Sitio en el pueblo de El Estor, Izabal, el hotel es historicamente la primera casa del pueblo...
Un poco de historia - a bit of history
The name of the village comes from the house in itself. Indeed the house was built by an english and ducth guys who came in the area to look for rare species of wood. Soon it becomes the heart of business for the locals, but they were unable to pronounce the store properly so it ends with el estor!
The place is also well known to have hosted in the early 60's, Che Guevara for ten days.

Que hacer en El Estor ? - what to do in El Estor ?
Apart from chill out watching the majestic lake, there are tons of things to do in the area.
The famous sites of El Boqueron an impressive canyon which you will visit with a canoe, or the even more wellknown the hotsprings of Finca Paraiso, where you will enjoy bathing and swimming in an outstanding nature.
The surroundings of Lake Izabal are worldly known for its huge populations of birds and butterflies, that become even bigger during the migration's time between june and august.
The game fishermen could fish in the wiggly and breathtaking Rio Oscuro for tarpon and snook. The lake provides also good fun with kayaking, windsurfing or sailing (hobbie cat).
Friends of nature will be delightful with hundreds of different orchideas, also trying to spot the famous manati or one of those 10ft crocodiles in the lagunas.
